Melissa A. Cyfers, Ed.D., is the Executive Director of the West Virginia Funeral Directors and Crematory Operators Association. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, a certified crematory operator, and holds a CFSP designation, with nearly 30 years of experience, Melissa brings a unique blend of academic excellence and practical expertise to the profession. She has taught at various college and universities in the science department.
She earned her Bachelor of Mortuary Science from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, a Master’s in Biological Sciences from Clemson University, a Master’s in Teaching from Liberty University, and a Doctorate in Education from Marshall University. Her diverse educational background reflects her deep commitment to both funeral service and lifelong learning.
Melissa resides in Huntington, West Virginia, with her husband, Terry, and their two teenage daughters, Katelin and Zoe. She is a member of Grace Gospel Church. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys traveling, sightseeing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
